Other staff present and meeting organizer Janet Smith. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Public Protection & Judiciary Committee – Regular Meeting – March 11, 2016 8:00 AM The March 11, 2016 minutes were approved as presented. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT No public comments were offered. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Election of Officers - Chair and Vice Chair Motion by Larson/Nelson for Andy Brinkman as Chair of the Public Protection & Judiciary Committee. Carried. Motion by Larson/Babbitt for Scott Nelson as Vice-Chair of the Public Protection & Judiciary Committee. Carried. RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVER: Roger Larson, Supervisor SECONDER: Scott Nelson, Vice Chair AYES: Andy Brinkman, Christopher Babbitt, Roger Larson, Scott Nelson, Judy Achterhof 2. Establish Regular Meeting Schedule Second Friday of each month in the County Board room at 8:00 AM remains the regular schedule of the committee. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Financial Reports Patrick Thompson reviewed the Financials as of March 2016. Thompson made note that some revenue's may appear off due to the timing of grant monies being received from the various sources. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Resolution approving Law Enforcement services agreement between the St. Croix County Sheriff and the Town of Troy Sheriff John Shilts reported on the agreement brought before the committee. By ordinance both St. Croix County and the Troy Township Boards need to pass this resolution agreeing to the terms of the agreement. The Sheriff thanked Heather Wolske and Scott Cox from Corporation Counsel for all the work in creating a standard agreement for all municipalities wanting to contract with the Sheriff's Office for Law Enforcment services. A Nelson/Larson motion to approve this resolution and forward it onto the full County Board. Child Support Agency Update Child Support Director Chad Wolske reported current happenings in the Child Support Office. The average collections of the office is 1.2 million per month. The office has again exceeded all federal performance measures and was awarded an Award of Excellence by the State of Wisconsin's Family and Children's services. Matching or exceeding the Federal performance measures ensure St. Croix County Child Support will continue to be eligible for the full match of funds. The department is working on transitioning over to electronic records. Wolske reported on the electronic case management software and how it will improve the efficiencies of the department and in the future work with other departments. Wolske recognized Lisa Plunkett as one of his staff members that makes the department successful. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Nelson requests the Phase II update be a standing agenda item. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Sheriff Shilts invited all members to attend the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on Tuesday, 05/17/2016 6:00 PM in Somerset. Medical Examiner Schachtner announced there is a conference on Opiates at UWRF on June 21, 2016. If any members would like to attend please contact Patty.
