2. Consideration of creating a joint mental health facility project
Supervisor Paul Berning brought forth concerns regarding transportation of persons
who are having a mental health episode and the stresses this puts on law
enforcement. Berning would like to explore if St. Croix and other counties around
Chippewa county would be interested in exploring a joint mental health facility
project and pool resources in the area to pay for this. Berning would take what was
put in front of the state legislature and work from there. A resolution by this
committee would start the process and from there, go to other counties and other
private industries and shareholders. CJCC Coordinator Mike O'Keefe suggests
interested parties review the past minutes from the CJCC mental health
subcommittee and the work and discussion that committee has done on this subject.
November 15, 2020 was offered as a date to have a first meeting of interested
parties to formulate a resolution and bring forth to this committee at the December
meeting.
