BUSINESSITEMS
1.Financial Report for April 2022
Administrator Witt introduced Phil Galli, the new Director of Justice Services. Review
of the Financial reports for the departments reporting to this committee.
Explanation of the general structure of the reportswas given to the committee.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. 2023 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Budget
Administrator Witt explained the current projects approved for capital improvement
projects (CIP). CIP financials are included in County Board agenda.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Review of Mandated Services
Administrator Witt reviewed the Mandated Services report included in the agenda
packet. The committee will review departmental mandated and other services. Chair
Feidler suggests the committee reviews the items in the upcoming meetings with a goal
of review complete as of December 31, 2022.

4. Circuit Court update
Judge Needham reported on the CASA program. CASA Director Sjoberg has been doing
a great job. 80-90 children are currently included in out of home placement. Judge
Needham reported that there has been a significant number of new employees.

5. Sheriff's Office update
Sheriff Scott Knudson reported on the Sheriff's Office. Cathy Borgschatz retired effective
yesterday. Captain Brent Standaert has been promoted to Chief Deputy. Per Statute
59.54 (15) the committee will inspect the jail. Chair Feidler suggests the July meeting be
dedicated to the jail inspection. Tour of the Mobile Emergency Operation Center (Comm
van). Discussion on current staffing.

6. Medical Examiner's Office Update
Medical Examiner Patty Schachtner reported on the amount of deaths the office has
been processing. Schachtner thanked the committee and the facilities department for
the support of having the viewing room at their office. June 8th mental health
symposium at 6pm at Northwood campus. The building project is proceeding, the
new cooler has been installed. UW intern starts Monday for reporting statistics on
suicides in St. Croix County.
