BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consideration of Additional Public Safety Priorities Beyond 2024 Budget
Administrator Ken Witt spoke on setting priorities for funding public safety positions
identified by department heads as needed for St. Croix County Public Safety. Discussion
on funding options. The positions being proposed are two mental health co-responders,
one deputy Clerk of Court, one Sheriff Investigator, three corrections deputies. one youth
justice early intervention specialist (JSS) and one part-time investigator (District
Attorney). Funding will be through a referendum on the April 2024 ballot for
approximately $750,000. Discussion on clear language for the referendum, which will be
reviewed at the next committee meeting.
RESULT: DISCUSSED-NO ACTION
