APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1.Public Protection & Judiciary Committee Regular Meeting February 1, 20248:00 AM Motion by Supervisor Ramberg, seconded by Supervisor Carlson to accept the February 1, 2024 minutes. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Election of Chair Supervisor Ramberg motions to elect Supervisor Feidler as Chair, seconded by Supervisor Carlson. Supervisor Leaf moves to close nominations and adopt by unanimous vote. Motion passed. RESULT: APPROVED \[3 TO 0\] MOVER: Tim Ramberg, Supervisor SECONDER: Mark Carlson, Supervisor AYES: Cathy Leaf, Mark Carlson, Tim Ramberg ABSTAIN: Bob Feidler EXCUSED: Paul Adams 2. Election of Vice-Chair Supervisor Carlson motions to elect Supervisor Leaf as vice- Chair, seconded by Supervisor Ramberg. Supervisor Ramberg moves to close nominations and adopt by unanimous vote. Motion passed. RESULT: APPROVED \[3 TO 0\] MOVER: Mark Carlson, Supervisor SECONDER: Tim Ramberg, Supervisor AYES: Bob Feidler, Mark Carlson, Tim Ramberg ABSTAIN: Cathy Leaf EXCUSED: Paul Adams 3. Consideration of Regular Meeting Schedule Date and Time Chair Feidler opened the discussion for regular meeting dates. The committee has been able to agree on any scheduled dates that need to be altered. The regular scheduled dates will remain as the first Thursday of the month. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Resolution Honoring Deputy Kaitlin Leising Sheriff Scott Knudson spoke on behalf of the resolution. The resolution encapsulates the day Deputy Leising lost her life in the line of duty. Supervisor Carlson moves to recommended the resolution to County Board, Supervisor Leaf Seconds. Discussion. Resolution passes RESULT: RECOMMENDED \[UNANIMOUS\] MOVER: Mark Carlson, Supervisor SECONDER: Cathy Leaf, Supervisor AYES: Cathy Leaf, Bob Feidler, Mark Carlson, Tim Ramberg ABSENT: Paul Adams 5. Medical Examiner's Office Update Medical Examiner Schachtner was not present. No update given. RESULT: NO ACTION REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Supervisor Leaf suggests an update on Fentanyl in the county. Chair Feidler suggests having statistics presented to this committee from all the reporting departments. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Sheriff Knudson is working with Senator Stafsholt, the National Guard and others in preparation of the dedication and renaming of the stretch of Highway 128 for Deputy Katie Leising.
