APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. April 23, 2014 10:00 AM Motion to accept minutes made by William Peavey, seconded by Greg Helgeson. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT* Bethany was present and advised that her family was involved in a traffic accident at CTH B and CTH N, and she wanted to voice her concerns with that intersection. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Traffic Matters for Faith Community Church - Carmichael Road - Hudson Chair Klatt informed the committee that Sheriff Shilts received an e-mail regarding this matter. A brief discussion took place. It was suggested that we invite Faith Community Church to send a representative to attend our next meeting so that specific issues can be addressed. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Report on STH 64 Interchange with STH 35 / CTH C - Somerset Greg Helgeson informed the committee that hopefully this Fall or next Spring, traffic signal lights will be installed on the ramps at this interchange. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Report on STH 170 / CTH G Intersection - Dunn County line Greg Helgeson advised that this intersection is still being looked at for possible improvements. Meetings with Dunn County and The Village of Downing will be taking place. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. State Patrol Traffic Report Trooper Erickson discussed a couple of different enforcement projects that will be taking place in August that will have extra patrol on duty. RESULT: DISCUSSED 5. Legislative Report & Laws of the Month Ken Berg provided the committee with registration booklets for the Wisconsin's 40th Annual Governor's Conference on Highway Safety that will be taking place August 26- 28, 2014 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. He also reviewed the Laws of the Month that were part of the agenda packet: July - Motorcycle riders are required to have a motorcycle license August - State law prohibits cell phone use while driving for many teens September - Drivers should be patient, cautious and attentive as school year starts RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. Report STH 35 / Radio Road Interchange - River Falls Greg Helgeson advised that a ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7/21/14, with a tentative opening date for the interchange to take place on 7/25/14. There will be some additional construction taking place. RESULT: DISCUSSED INFO/DISCUSSION ITEMS 1. Discussion/Follow-Up on STH 65 / 70th Avenue - Flying J Truck Stop Greg Helgeson advised that they are proceeding with some improvements to facilitate the through traffic on STH 65. There are more construction projects planned for 2016 & 2017 in that area. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. KIDS AND CARS - Heat Stroke Fact Sheet There was a brief review of this fact sheet. RESULT: DISCUSSED ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Wisconsin Fatality Report: Ken Berg advised that we have had 212 fatalities in Wisconsin this year. At this same time in 2013, we had 233 fatalities; therefore, we have had 21 fewer fatalities so far this year. St. Croix County Fatality Report: Chair Klatt advised that we have had 7 fatalities; 4 of them have occurred since our last meeting. ADJOURN DATE OF NEXT MEETING - OCTOBER 15. 2014
