PUBLIC COMMENT*
Larry & Barb Halvorson spoke to the Transportation Committee regarding the consideration of
reducing the speed limit to 45 miles per hour on County Trunk Highway I.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1.Consider speed limit change request on County Trunk Highway I
After a review of a request from the Town of St. Joseph to lower the speed limit and
consider extending the no passing zone, the Transportation Committee acted in favor to
lower the speed limit to 45 mph from County Trunk Highway E to Perch Lake Road.
The Sheriff Department has agreed to increase enforcement. The Transportation
Committee instructed the department to revisit this in one year after the Stillwater
Crossing is open. The no passing zone areas are regulated by the Federal Sign Manual
and changing them is restricted.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE
Ramberg announced an agreement for 2014 construction with local forces on CTH T. A
WISDOT letter noted that the St. Croix County estimate is a 17.2% savings from the estimated
cost to let the work.
Ramberg announced that six of the eight future projects eligible for federal funding were
awarded. Four bridges (2-County bridges and 2 Town bridges), CTH A, west of New Richmond
and CTH GG east of New Richmond. The total estimated project costs for all six projects is over
$2.9 million. County funds leverage the 80% federal cost sharing of the eligible aids.
