Transportation Committee – Regular Meeting – May 11, 2015 8:30 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Financial Update Ramberg reviewed the May 2015 Highway Department financial report. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Consider Sign Relocation County Road D Emerald Staff shared information received from the Town of Emerald regarding placement of speed limit signs on County Road D in Emerald. Motion made by Peterson, second by Ostness to change the signs in Emerald per the Town of Emerald and staff recommendations. Motion carried. Consider Adopt A Highway Program Amendments Murtha and Rehnelt gave an overview of the County Adopt-A-Highway Program. Motion made by Ostness, second by Nelson to amend the Adopt A Highway Program by freezing current sponsorship, not accept new highway section sponsors, and evaluate the program annually RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVER: Dave Ostness, Vice Chair SECONDER: Scott Nelson, Supervisor AYES: Scott Nelson, Dave Ostness, David Peterson, William Peavey EXCUSED: Daniel Hansen 4. Establish Transit Sub-Committee and Appoint Members The following were appointed to the Transit Planning Sub-Committee: Voting County Board members: Dave Ostness, Dave Peterson, and Scott Nelson. Invited staff and others: Tim Ramberg, Kristen Sailer, Tracy Davis, Julie Bergstrom, and John Watters. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Peterson requested the Highway Building Study presentation from the Highway Conference be shown to the Committee along with an update from the St. Croix County Feasibility study at an upcoming meeting. Ostness requested an update on the road damage claim on County Road BB. Nelson requested a review of the State Highway 12/Badlands Road/County Road UU intersection pertaining to the stoplights. Staff will contact the State and the Traffic Safety Committee regarding the intersection review request. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Fall Commissioner’s meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 15, 2015. Location preferences included Big Guy BBQ (formerly Valley House)-North Hudson and Ready Randy’s-New Richmond. Krizan updated the Committee on the flood damage, mowing schedule, and scheduled projects. The state salt shed location near Houlton is moving forward with options sent to WisDOT’s Engineering firm. Staff is working on Radio Road easements. The Village of Hammond has changed the speed limit signs on County Road T, south of Hammond. Ramberg shared that the Town of St. Joseph has discontinued 148 Avenue. The State Budget was signed by the Governor on Sunday, July 12. Ostness announced the WCHA/WCA Steering Committee meeting to be held Friday, July 17, 2015.
