Selection of Subcommittee Chairperson. Judge Needham appointed Anjali Patel as the chairperson of the subcommittee. 2. Report on Child Welfare Conference. S. Needham - summarized and overview of conference sessions. M. Leccia - assessment language re: conditions/speaking to families. A. Patel - group sessions, permanency, Nov. 20 (Tailored Dispositional Orders - CHIPS training meeting) contact Attorney Patel if you would like to attend. Substance abuse help for families. T. Baier - Jefferson Co. Judge uses grants for attorneys for parents. Lacrosse Co. suggestions on grants. Safety and Protective plans rolled into one. S. Garrett - Non-profit called Emotional Justice in Hudson S. Needham - Finding attorneys in our area to represent parents. Family treatment court sessions at Conference/grants available. SCC no longer can provide treatment for substance abuse. 3. Ideas/Suggested Areas to Explore as Subcommittee Work. S. Needham - Juvenile Justice. What is causing the behavior? What alternatives are there? S. Gherty - East Troy Judge, Mike Cotter, has program in municipal court (Juvenile Municipal Court Program) - see power point handout attached. S. Ghery would like to see a program brought to St. Croix County. S. Needham - How can we work with the municipal courts? How to improve: truancy issues, Juvenile Justice. C. Leaf - Would like stats on truancy in SCC at municipal level. A. Dolfi - discussed the need to further look at tailored dispositions. T. Baier - discussed uniform drug testing for all CPS cases. A. Patel - discussed the need for more attorney's to represent parents in CPS cases. M. Leccia - discussed educating more in the court system regarding the youth risk assessment (YASI). L. Plunkett - discussed how the SAVES/WINS grant may benefit the work of this subcommittee. A. Damrau - discussed some of the current challenges with truancy cases. 4. JET Coordination/Implementation. A. Dolfi - discussed how the juvenile’s actions are affecting them and how to get that across to the youth. S. Gherty- Schools participation in truancy statics and the schools would appreciate the help from the County. T. Baier - Unified testing A. Patel - Parents resource guide (handout), getting parents attorneys, also for Juvenile Justice handout. M. Leccia - Reward program in Juvenile Justice Program. Hold parents accountable for youth justice issues. Community intervention. Discussion coordinating services with Justice Support for drug testing and GPS. L. Plunkett - WINS Grant Available A. Damrau - Would like to see truancy follow up and holding parents accountable S. Needham - Trust issues in SCC. The JET Initiative and how building trust is very important. 5. Truancy Policy (Municipal Court Cooperation/Coordination). S. Needham - wants to change policy and discussed that the truancy policy in St. Croix County is twenty years old. S. Gherty - wants to streamline policy. 6. Future Meeting Dates. S. Needham - suggests to meet monthly P.
