Committee Members
St. Croix County Traffic Safety Commission meeting was held
July 16, 2003 at the Sheriff's Department in Hudson at
1:30PM.
Present were: Miles Wittig, L.G. Brown, Dennis Johnson,
Greg Helgeson, Doris Peterson, Charles Grant, Bob
Klanderman, Pam Dabruzzi and Richard Marzolf (excused
absence)
Chairman Klanderman called meeting to order. Motion to
adopt agenda made, seconded and approved. Motion to accept
minutes of January 15, 2003 made and approved.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
-Mr. Helgeson looked at Carmichael Rd and Co Rd W
intersection, there isn't much that can be done the way it
is designed.
NEW BUSINESS:
-Mr. Helgeson discussed complaints reference left had turns
off Hwy. 35 to Hanley Road. In 2005 an overpass is
supposed to be built.
- Discussion held reference speed limit north of Baldwin on
Hwy. 63 and Hwy 12W. Mr. Helgeson requests a speed limit
reduction of 45MPH from 55MPH so it will be 35 MPH, then
45MPH outside of Village of Baldwin, going up to 55MPH.
Motion made by C. Grant, seconded by M. Wittig to support
the speed limit change. Motion carried.
- Motion made by M. Wittig, seconded by D. Peterson to
support lane change sign North of Baldwin on Hwy. 63 /Hwy
12, if left turn lane is constructed. Motion carried.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CORRESPONDENCE
-Mr. Johnson went over some fatality figures for Wisconsin.
There have been 440 fatalities so far in 2003. There were
339 in the same time period in 2002. The five year average
is 335 for this time period.
-Mr. Johnson also handed out literature on bills in the
legislature etc.
Motion made and seconded to adjourn. Motion carried.
