APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. June 26, 2014 8:00 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT* BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Juvenile ServicesClerk/Treatment Court Coordinator - Kim Kim Kitzberger, Juvenile Services Clerk updated the membership on initiatives for prevention of drug abuse by juveniles in St. Croix County. Judge Vlack also discussed how the expansion of Kim's position will help with drug prevention in the County. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) Update Lisa Multhauf, Diversion Coordinator and Amber Perry, Drug Court Coordinator presented on the Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) group that was recently started in St. Croix County. Lisa and Amber co-facilitate this cognitive based therapy group for Drug Court participants, as well as Diversion clients. They have started the group with 4 participants and will expand as the group meets. The group meets one time per week for 1.5 hours and to complete the entire program takes approximately 4-6 months. District Attorney Eric Johnson attended MRT training and stated that a group of this type should prove beneficial to those with cognitive thinking errors. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Review Sub-Committee Workgroups Reviewed sub committee groups for CJCC and the mission of each. Judge Vlack asked if Sara Sedahl or Kim Kitzberger should be added to the Addictions Workgroup. Discussion was held on what type of initiatives are currently going on within in the County at this time. Judge Needham stated that we each group should identify what is currently being done with respect to drug prevention in the County and use that as a starting point. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Possible Expansion of CJCC Council Members Discussion was help on possible expansion of the CJCC membership. Suggestions included the Chief Medical Examiner, representatives from the faith based community in Hudson-New Richmond, and the medical community. Liesl Nelson discussed prescription legislation and the need to make this a topic of discussion in the future. Judge Lundell stated this should be a topic for the Addictions Workgroup. Expansion of the CJCC membership will be referred back to the By-Laws Committee and reviewed at the next CJCC meeting. RESULT: DISCUSSED 5. Community Service Program in St. Croix County Discussion was held on the potential of having a Community Service Program in St. Croix County. Interim Coordinator Mike O'Keefe asked the body if this is something they would like explored at this time. Judge Needham stated he thought it would be a good idea as an alternative for some offenders. Mike O'Keefe will contact other counties with this type of program and report back to the full Council. RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. CJCC & TAD 2105 Proposed Budget Mike O'Keefe presented the 2015 budget for CJCC and Treatment and Alternatives (TAD) grant to the Council. The budgets were reviewed by the Executive Committee and recommended for approval to the full Council. Cox, Mark Lemke 7. CJCC Interim Coordinator Status Judge Lundell made a request to the group to make Mike O'Keefe, Interim CJCC Coordinator the permanent Coordinator. He asked that the group move this recommendation forward to the full County Board at the next meeting. He stated that Mike O'Keefe is willing to take on the role of CJCC Coordinator on a permanent basis and is asking for the support of the full Council. Discussion was held on the responsibilities of being the Coordinator and the direction the CJCC is taking at this time. A motion was made to recommend to the full County Board to make Mike O'Keefe the CJCC Coordinator.
