CROIX COUNTY MULTI- SGflfLSlfL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN 2024-2029 1 WHEREAS, hazard mitigation planning is the process of developing a set of actions 2 designed to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people, businesses, infrastructure, and property 3 from hazards and their effects; and 4 WHEREAS, St. Croix County Emergency Support Services provides emergency 5 management planning, coordination, response, and recovery support on behalf of all 6 communities within St. Croix County; and 7 WHEREAS, St. Croix County has worked through the St. Croix County Local 8 Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and in cooperation with the West Central Wisconsin 9 Regional Planning Commission to update the St. Croix County Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan 10 2024-2029 ("Plan") to assess the magnitude of hazard risks, and to develop strategies for 11 minimizing or preventing these risks; and 12 WHEREAS, St. Croix County towns, villages, and cities participated in the planning 13 process through a presentation to the St. Croix County unit of the Towns Association, a town 14 hazard assessment survey, meetings with each city and village, the creation of city and village 15 sub -plans, web -based surveys, and other communications; and 16 WHEREAS, the Plan has been reviewed by Wisconsin Emergency Management as 17 meeting the requirements of the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and applicable Code of 18 Federal Regulations, including the updated Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Guidance, effective 19 April 2023; and 20 WHEREAS, adoption of the Plan by the County Board will continue to allow the County 21 to be eligible for federal grant dollars for hazard mitigation projects. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of 23 Supervisors hereby adopts the St. Croix County Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan 2024-2029 as the 24 official all hazards mitigation plan for the County with the intent of implementing the Plan 25 recommendations as funding and resources allow. The County Board recognizes that 26 participating cities, villages, and educational institutions may, at their discretion, modify their 27 respective subplans found in the Plan's appendices without requiring future re -approval of the 28 Plan by the St. Croix County Board.
