HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-07-2024 Public Protection & Judiciary Minutes Public Protection and Judiciary Committee Minutes November 7, 2024 8:00 AM St. Croix County Government Center - Room 1400 Government Center - 1101 Carmichael Road, Hudson, Wisconsin Call to Order Chair Bob Feidler called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM Roll Call PRESENT: PRESENT: Supervisor Paul Adams Supervisor Mark Carlson Supervisor Bob Feidler Supervisor Cathy Leaf Supervisor Tim Ramberg ABSENT: Others in attendance: County Administrator Ken Witt, Medical Examiner Patty Schachtner, Clerk of Court Kristi Severson, Child Support Administrator Lisa Plunkett, Justice Support Services Director Phil Galli, Sheriff Scott Knudson, Judge Scott Needham, District Attorney Karl Anderson. Approval of Minutes 1. Minutes of Previous Meeting - October 3, 2024 Minutes were accepted as presented. Public Comment Business 1. Financial Report for September 2024 Administrator Witt reviewed the Financial reports, included in the agenda packet. 2. Circuit Court Update Judge Needham gave a circuit court update to the committee. 3. Resolution Requesting the State of Wisconsin to Increase Funding for Circuit Courts Motion: Approve the Resolution Requesting the State of Wisconsin to Increase Funding for Circuit Courts Result: passed Moved by: Supervisor Leaf Seconded by: Supervisor Adams Ayes: Adams, Leaf, Feidler, Ramberg, Carlson Nays: None Abstain: None Notes: Administrator Witt explained the resolution is in support of the Wisconsin Counties Association effort to request the state to split the Revenues received by Circuit Court at a 50/50 rate instead of the 80/20 split currently happening. If the state agrees St. Croix County would see an additional revenue amount of 500,000. Motion by Supervisor Leaf to Approve the Resolution requesting the State of Wisconsin to increase funding for the Circuit Courts., seconded by Supervisor Adams. Motion passed. 4. Medical Examiner Departmental Update Medical Examiner Patty Schachtner updated the committee on current concerns, investigations and medical record reviews. 5. Justice Support Services Updates Justice Support Services Director Phil Galli reported to the committee. Request for Future Agenda Items No Future Agenda items Announcements 1. Child Support Awarded WCSEA Agency of the Year Child Support Administrator Lisa Plunkett announced the St. Croix County Child Support Department was awarded the Wisconsin Child Support Enforcement Agency of the Year Award.
