PUBLIC COMMENT
BUSINESS ITEMS
1.ADRC Preventative/Nutrition Program Coordinator presentation
Randi Hanson, Preventative/Nutrition Program Coordinator, discussed the nutrition
program and reviewed a Nutrition Program survey completed by the state. Hanson
prepares the menus for the two cooking kitchens, working with the registered dietitian in
Public Health. There has been a bit of turn over at the Senior Nutrition Centers, but there
are still lots of things happening at the sites. Since the closer of the Hammond Senior
Center, the assisted living facility in Hammond has hosted a meal once a month with the
use of the Hammond Senior Center Board monies. Currently, the monies are dwindling
and the groupwill begin to charge for the meal starting in May. It was discussed to
review the idea of reopening the Hammond Senior Nutrition Site when looking at the
2017 budget.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Integration of Income Maintenance Consortia and Aging and Disability Resource Center
position paper
Beckman pointed out some key points in the Income Maintenance consortia concept
paper. He pointed out that the state's recommendation was not to structurally integrate
Income Maintenance consortia and ADRCs.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Family Care and IRIS (I Respect I Self Direct) 2.0 Concept Paper
Council members received copies of the concept paper and a quick glance pointing out
the changes. There is a concern on the number of zones and the roll out of the new
system regarding enrollment/transitioning of consumers. Once the paper is approved by
the Joint Finance Committee, the Department of Health Services can submit a waiver
application to the Center for Medicaid Services (CMS). Prior to submission to CMS a
required public notice and comment period will take place. If CMS approves the waiver,
an RFP be released to select integrated health agencies (IHA) that will provide Family
Care/IRIS 2.0. Once the IHA are determined a phase enrollment of members in IHAs
and a phased approach to implement Family Care/IRIS 2.0 one zone at a time over
several months. More information will be shared with the Council members when it is
known.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. Aging and Disability Resource Center Aiming for Excellence Change Team project
survey results
Marian Mottaz, ADRC Disability Benefit Specialist, explained the Aiming for Excellence
project that ADRCs are required by contract to conduct. It is a quick change process.
The ADRC has done numerous projects over the years - welcome packet, resources in
waiting room, phone rolling in the beginning, and finally the follow up survey. The
results of the current project - Follow Up Survey - were shared with the Council
members. Overall, the results were positive.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
