APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1.Council on Aging and Disabilities Regular Meeting August 19, 20168:30 AM
Chair Ostness asked the Council if there were any corrections to the minutes from August
19, 2016. A motion was made by Council member Schrank and seconded by Council
member Adams. A voice vote was taken and the minutes were approved.
RESULT:ACCEPTED

There was no public comment.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. St. Croix County Health Center Presentation
Sandy Hackenmueller, St. Croix County Health Center Administrator, provided the
Council with a layout of how the new facility will look. An Open House is scheduled for
November 15, 2016 and residents will be moved into the new facility shortly there after.
Admission for the Kitty Rhoades Memorial Dementia Unit will begin December 1.
Director Johnson thanked both Jim Elsbury, Building Facilities, and Hackenmeuller for
all the work that they have done on the project.

2. Baldwin, Deer Park and Somerset Nutrition Program Presentations
Nutrition Program Manager for Baldwin Senior Center, Cindy Ramberg, presented to the
Council regarding the activities at the site. She discussed some to the initiatives to bring
new members into the Senior Center. The Table of Knowledge, which is a men's coffee
group, meets every morning to enjoy coffee and solve the world's problems. Even
though meals are not served on Fridays, the Senior Center is open to those who would
like to play cards or other games. She mentioned that many of the participants feel the
site is a home away from home.
Nutrition Program Manager for Deer Park Senior Center, Jan Thompson, who will be
starting her 28th year as a Nutrition Program, presented next to the Council. The Deer
Park site is one of the two cooking kitchens, preparing meals the for New Richmond and
Somerset as well as their own site. The have a men's coffee group that comes in twice a
week, celebrate the holidays and special days throughout the year. A variety of trips are
planned throughout the year. The site location is also used by many other entities in the
community since the town is so small.
Nutrition Program Manager for Somerset Senior Center, Shelley Wallander, provided
Council with some pictures of activities at the Senior Center. She stated that Tuesdays
seem to be the biggest day of the week at the site. The 4th graders from St. Anne's visit
monthly and make tray favors for Westfields Hospital and Clinic. The Senior Center
Board recently joined the Chamber of Commerce for Somerset to work on increasing
participation. There are a variety of trips and activities are planned throughout the year.

3. Council on Aging and Disabilities Review of the 2017 Budget Request
Johnson reviewed the preliminary budget information with the Council members. There
was position request change to add additional hours for a position at one of the Nutrition
Sites and additional funding for the Dementia Care Specialist for the remainder of 2017.
Discussion was had and questions raised and answered.

4. Financial Reports
Haug, reviewed the Financial Report for July 2016.

5. Information and Assistance Specialist/Options Counselor Update Sheet
Council member received the August 2016 Information and Assistance Report. There
were a total of eight enrollments into ContinuUs and one disenrollment; there were five
enrollments into IRIS and two disenrollments; there were five enrollments into Care
Wisconsin and no disenrollments.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
6. Out of County and Weekend Senior Center Transportation Requests
There were numerous out-of-county or beyond hours of operation requests related to the
utilization of the ADRC/Aging fleet vehicles.

Oct. 1 - Glenwood City to Alma
Oct. 7 - Glenwood City to Maiden Rock
Oct. 7 - Woodville to Nelson
Oct. 7 - Hudson to Augusta
Oct. 8 - Glenwood City to Osceola
Oct. 9 - River Falls to Stillwater
Oct. 15 - Glenwood City to White Bear Lake
Oct.16 - Glenwood City to St. Croix Falls
A motion was made by Council member Schrank and seconded by Councl member Brue.
Motion carried.

7. New Richmond Senior Center - relocation update
Beckman informed the Council that the move of the New Richmond Senior Center went
very well. The City of New Richmond did a great job welcoming the Senior Center and
helping with remodeling. An Open House is planned for Monday, September 19 at 1
p.m. with pie and ice cream.

8. Council on Aging and Disabilities New Health Center Facilities Site Tour
Council members proceeded to tour the new facility at 10:10 a.m. and adjourned the
meeting once the tour ended at 11 a.m.

Beckman informed the Council there is still time to register for the Caregiver Conference on
Friday, September 30.
Beckman read a thank you from a transportation participant.
Beckman provided the Council with a SAVE THE DATE card regarding an advocacy event at
the River Falls Library.
Beckman informed the Council that the ADRC will be completing an ADRC Business plan in
the fall and once it is complete it will discussed at a future COAD meeting.
There is an upcoming Transit Committee meeting on October 5 at the Ag Center in Baldwin.
