APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. June 13, 2017 4:00 PM
Chair Ostness asked the Council if there were any corrections to the minutes from the June 13,
2017 meeting. Council member Brue noted a couple of typos on page four. Chair Ostness
approved the minutes with the changes noted.
RESULT: ACCEPTED AS AMENDED

The meeting was open to public comment for items on or off the agenda by Chair Ostness.
There was no public comment presented.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Recognition of Denise Gillen, Disability Benefit Specialist
Administrator Beckman recognized retiring Disability Benefit Specialist Denise Gillen
for her years of service with Health and Human Services and Aging and Disability
Resource Center. Beckman read some thank yous from clients and the supervising
program attorney. The position has been posted and the Council will be updated when
the position is filled.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Employment Trends for Individuals with Disabilities
Beckman provided the Council with statistics regarding the number of individuals who
have a disability and those within the workforce. There was discussion regarding what
programs are available, what obstacles are faced, how to identify opportunities and other
aspects of trends. There was discussion surrounding the role of the Council and how to
proceed.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Nutrition Advisory Council June Meeting Review
Beckman reviewed the highlights from the Nutrition Advisory Council meeting held in
June. The next meeting will be held in Deer Park on Wednesday, September 13.

4. Home Delivered and Congregate Meal Second Quarter Statistics for 2017
Beckman reviewed the 2nd quarter and 6 month Home-Delivered and Congregate Meal
statistics with the Council. Overall, the programs are doing well. The Home-Delivered
Meals show a decrease for the first half of the year compared to 2016, but Congregate
dining showed an increase.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
5. Information and Assistance Specialist/Options Counselor Update Sheet
Council members reviewed the June and July 2017 Information & Assistance Update
Sheet. In the month of June there were seven enrollments into Community Link and no
disenrollments; there was one enrollment into Care Wisconsin and no disenrollments;
there was enrollment into IRIS and one disenrollment. In the month of July there were
eight enrollments into Community Link and no disenrollments; there were no enrollments
into Care Wisconsin and one disenrollments; there were three enrollments into IRIS and
one disenrollment.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
6. Out of County and Weekend Senior Center Transportation Requests
There were two out of county or beyond hours of operation requests related to the
utilization of the ADRC/Aging fleet vehicles.
August 12 - Glenwood City to Pepin
August 20 - Glenwood City to Lake Magnor in Clayton
A motion to approve the requests was made by Council member Zaske; seconded by
Council member Schreiber; motion carried.

7. Aging and Disability Resource Center St. Croix County Fair Report
Beckman informed the Council that the St. Croix County Fair was a successful event for
many of the Senior Centers. The silent auction raised over $2,000 for a many of the
Senior Centers who put together baskets. The juice, water, and popcorn sales went well.
There was a variety of demonstrations throughout the days of the fair and many senior
exhibits. The 2017 St. Croix County Outstanding Older Adults were Dave McDonald of
Hudson and Bev Dorsey of Baldwin.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE
Council member Jerry Adams announced his resignation from the Council. Beckman recognized
him for his year of service.
Beckman announced some upcoming events - September 28: Dementia 360 workshop to be held
at WITC-New Richmond from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.; September 29: 11th Annual Caregiver
Conference to be held at WITC-New Richmond from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; November 2: Virtual
Dementia Tour to be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hudson from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
The open house for the newly remodeled part of the St. Croix County Health Center went well.

Chair Ostness adjourned the meeting at 10:19 a.m.
