1. Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix County Presentation
Mary Steele, Coordinator of Pierce/St. Croix Counties Free Clinic, provided the Council
with an overview of the program. The Clinic began in 2006 when reviewing what could
be done in the area to assist people with getting health services. A steering committee
was formed with members of the community, not just the health care field, to look at
funding and logistics for the clinic. In April 2007, the clinic doors opened. Eligibility for
consumers would be residents of Pierce or St. Croix Counties, uninsured, under the
poverty guidelines, and within the scope of service. The clinic is located within the
Vibrant Health facility in River Falls and held one night a week. In 2017, there were
1,038 patient visits, 39% were Pierce County residents and 61% were St. Croix County
residents. Funding is received through grants, donations, and an annual fundraising
event.
