APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Council on Aging and Disabilities Regular Meeting April 5, 2019 8:30 AM
Council on Aging and Disabilities Chair Anderson asked if there were any corrections,
additions, or deletions for the minutes. A motion to approve the April 5, 2019 minutes
was made by Council member Schrank; seconded by Council member Brunner; motion
carried.
RESULT: ACCEPTED
PUBLIC COMMENT
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Aging and Disability Resource Center Dementia Care Specialist Program Presentation
Beckman introduced the Dementia Care Specialist Nancy Abrahamson. She provided the
Council with history of the program and where the program is within St. Croix County.
She discussed the state initiatives as well as those in St. Croix County. Council members
received the Wisconsin State Dementia Plan for 2019-2023, an outline regarding the
Dementia Care program and upcoming activities.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Aging and Disability Resource Center Disability Benefit Specialist Program
Presentation
Beckman introduced the Disability Benefit Specialists Carolyn Greunke and Laurel Feldt.
They reviewed their job duties and responsibilities. Of the ____176?? open cases, they
have discussed with employment and benefits with 48 individuals. Clients are given
information on Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and Job Center in River Falls
when looking at work benefit analysis. Since last meeting with the Council, Feldt and
Greunke have attended different trainings surrounding employment, visited Social
Security office and meet with agencies who specialize in employment benefits. Both
Feldt and Greunke are overseen not only by Beckman, but an attorney through Disability
Rights Wisconsin. Johnson recommended that the Disability Benefit Specialists return to
the Council to provide additional information surrounding employment and benefits.

3. Presentation of the 2018 Health and Human Services Annual Report
Johnson reviewed the 2018 Health and Human Services Annual Report with the Council.
Beckman highlighted the ADRC statistics surrounding Senior Nutrition, Information and
Assistance, and Transportation.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. Aging and Disability Resource Center Financial Reports
Dr. Huag reviewed the April 2019 Financial Report. Discussion was held.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
5. 2018 Statewide Nutrition Program Satisfaction Survey
Beckman reviewed the Senior Congregate Dining and Home-delivered meal surveys with
the Council. Overall, the survey results were positive. The 2019 surveys for the
Congregate Nutrition will be completed early summer and the Home-Delivered will be
completed late fall/early winter.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
6. Information and Assistance Specialist/Options Counselor Update Sheet
Council members reviewed the April 2019 Information & Assistance report. Within the
month of April, there were nine enrollments into Inclusa and no disenrollments; there
was one enrollment into Care Wisconsin and no disenrollments; there were four
enrollments into IRIS-TMG and no disenrollments; there were no enrollments or
disenrollments into IRIS-Connections or IRIS-Consumer Direct.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
7. Out of County and Weekend Senior Center Transportation Requests
There were a couple Out of County/Weekend Transportation requests presented for
approval:
June 4: Woodville to Eau Claire
June 7: Hudson to Bloomington
A motion to approve the requests was made by Council member Schrank; seconded
by Council member Brue; motion carried.

8. Aging and Disability Resource Center Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon - Recap
The Council members that attended the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon voiced that
they enjoyed the meal and entertainment. There were over 100 Volunteers from the
ADRC who were honored on Friday, May 5 with entertainment by the New Richmond
High School Orchestra and a sit down meal at Ready Randy's Banquet Hall in New
Richmond.

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Council Chair Anderson asked if anyone had any requests for future agenda items. A suggestion
was to have Adult Protective Services provide information on services and program activities.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE
Council members received fliers with upcoming events sponsored by the ADRC. The Countywide
Card Tournament wrapped up on Wednesday, May 8th in Hudson. The winners will be
announced at the Countywide Senior Picnic on June 21 in Roberts. Beckman shared information
regarding the Pierce St. Croix Free Clinic. Beckman announced nominations are being accepted
for Outstanding Older Adults. All nominees will be honored on Friday, July 19 at the St. Croix
County Fair. Beckman informed the Council, Natalie Rivard was appointed to the Council
replacing Laurie Pelnar. She will start in June.

The Council meeting was adjourned at 10:29 a.m.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12 at 4 p.m. in at the Hudson Government
Center. There will also be a joint meeting with Health and Human Services Board at 5 p.m. in
the County Board Room at the Hudson Government Center.
