Transportation Committee – Regular Meeting – May 20, 2019 8:30 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT Melanie Weberg presented information about turtle monitoring program on County Road H near Cedar Lake. 1. Information distributed for Public Comment BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Financial Report - May 2019 Kathy Rineck reviewed the Financial Report. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Review 2018 Financial Report The year end Financial report is done and being audited. Krejci noted the financials are still a work in progress and Kathy has worked on changing accounts and correcting paths. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Highway Department Report & Initiatives Update Rob Krejci thanked Todd Rehnelt for his dedication and commitment to the building of the Baldwin Facility, reviewed ongoing initiatives, summer construction and providing public communication regarding construction. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Transit Commission Report Dave Ostness gave an overview of the Strategic Planning process. RESULT: DISCUSSED 5. Discuss Senate Bill 282 & Assembly Bill 283 Rob Krejci reviewed the Bills being brought forward. The Transportation Committee asked Krejci to attend the hearings. These bills would have a dramatic impact on the Highway Department budget. These fees go directly to our construction fund. In 2018 we were able to put $821,000 directly to our roads. Saint Croix County passed a resolution in 2017 against virtually the same legislation. RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. Tour of Baldwin Facility Upon adjournment, the Committee toured the Baldwin Facility RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE WisDOT has committed monies to the salt shed lease agreement. Craig Thompson, Wisconsin Secretary of Transportation plans to visit the St. Croix County Highway Facility in Baldwin today. ADJOURN DATE OF NEXT MEETING
