1. Transportation Committee – Regular Meeting – April 15, 2019 8:30 AM

BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Monthly Financial Report
Kathy Rineck reviewed the Financial report. The 2018 Year End report is scheduled to be
presented at the June meeting.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Highway Department Report
Rob Krejci met with Jeff Kern, WisDOT, regarding the State salt shed. The hot mix plant
is open and staff is currently performing road repairs throughout the County as well as
Towns, Cities and Villages per their requests. Richard Booth was awarded the Assistant
Patrol Superintendent position.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Ad Hoc Transportation Space Needs Facility Planning Committee Update
Todd Rehnelt updated the Committee with the building progress. The Highway
Department plans to be open for operation in Baldwin on June 19, 2019.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. Transit Commissoion Update
No May meeting was held.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
5. Consider ATV/UTV Route Trail Applications
Highway staff met with the Sheriff's Department to review the ATV/UTV applications.
These route applications were reviewed based on safety, Average Daily Traffic Counts,
five year accident history as well as any other relevant items.
Motion made by Peavey/Ostness to create an ordinance for the County Board to
approve three routes. Motion carried.

6. Work Zone Safety Proposed Law Changes
Rob Krejci informed the Committee the work zone safety proposals being reviewed and
discussed at the State level, some of which are coming from the Wisconsin County
Highway Association. The proposals include: Flagger's Bill of Rights, work zone
education in Driver's Education classes and automated speed enforcement in work
zones.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
7. Review CTH VV & STH 35/64 Somerset Village Limits Speed zone Adjustments
Rob Krejci reviewed the County Engineer's request to review the speed limits on County
Trunk Highway VV. This area is a high traffic volume with varied speed limits. Motion
made by Peterson/Ostness to approve the request to modify the speed limits as
presented by the County Highway Engineer recommendations. Motion Carried.
