Executive Committee of the Community Justice Collaborating Council – Regular Meeting – July 14, 2016 12:00 PM PUBLIC COMMENT BUSINESS ITEMS 1. 2017 Treatment Alternatives & Diversion (TAD) Grant Request Update Mike O'Keefe, CJCC Coordinator and Kim Kitzberger, Drug Court Coordinator, attended a one day training on Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions (COMPAS) in Madison. The training was sponsored by Northpointe Inc., proprietor of the COMPAS Assessment. The COMPAS Assessment continues to be the preferred method for determining the risk and needs of individuals entering the criminal justice system and a requirement for applying for the Treatment Alternatives & Diversion Grant in 2017. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. 2016 CJCC and Treatment Alternatives & Diversion (TAD) Grant Budgets Mike O'Keefe, CJCC Coordinator reported that the budgets for the CJCC and Treatment Alternatives & Diversion (TAD) are in line with projections for the year. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. CJCC Subcommittees Review Fred Johnson, Director, Health and Human Services is requesting that the CJCC bylaws be changed so we can add members to our current subcommittees. We should also address whether subcommittees should meet on a regular basis or as needed and if the chair should make this determination. This should be referred to the CJCC bylaws subcommittee and brought back to the CJCC Council for review. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Agenda Items for CJCC Meeting - September 8, 2016 Agenda items for the next CJCC Council meeting; 1.) Racial disparity issues and COMPAS, 2.) Medical Examiner Report, 3.) CJCC and Drug Court Office move, 4.) Introduction of Don Harper, District Court Administrator (DCA) by Judge Needham, 5.) County Budget Update - Pat Thompson, 6.) Subcommittees - define purpose, 7.) Strategic Planning - set date. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE The Honorable R. Michael Waterman reported that Drug Court is going well and they have more work to do with respect to policies and procedures. The Honorable Eric J. Lundell would like to discuss racial disparity issues and what would we do as a group to address concerns. We might pass this onto the Criminal Justice or Community Justice Subcommittees as a starting point if needed.
