Regular Meeting February 12, 2024 12:00 PM

BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Pretrial staffing update.
JSS Director Galli provided an update on the search for pretrial case manager.
2. Justice Support testing updates.
JSS Director Galli provided updates to testing services.
3. Pretrial workgroup update.
Judge Waterman indicated that the pretrial workgroup has been disbanded.
4. Wisconsin Pretrial Standards updates.
Pretrial Supervisor Hilden provided updates to pretrial services standards in the State
of WI.
5. Avoiding ex parte communications between court staff.
Pretrial Services Supervisor Hilden introduced the topic of ex parte communication
taking place between pretrial case managers and other court staff.
6. Pretrial staff role as advocates for clients.
Judge Waterman clarified that JSC staff can act as advocates as long as it is more
coaching than anything else.
7. Bond langugage: Ongoing clarifications.
Subcommittee members discussed clarifying bond language, specifically surrounding
verifying treatment attendance.
8. Justice Support testing for law enforcement agencies.
Subcommittee members discussed whether JSS staff can test individuals on bond with a
condition of "testing upon reasonable suspicion."
