PUBLIC COMMENT
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Discussion of Updated Working Plan and Next Steps for Subcommittee Work
Judge Vlack updates the group - a lot has been accomplished over the last three years in
our subcommittee. Judge Vlack would like to now focus forward on increasing our
assessment work - specifically, Lethality Assessment and offender assessment. Judge
Vlack indicates that the work of Craig Hooymen over the years has been instrumental in
organizing a successful Compliance Court for IPDV offenders. The court dates are the
third Wednesday of every month. Judge Vlack wishes to invite everyone in the group to
come to our next meeting in February to discuss the revised/new work plan. Charles
Colemen states that no matter what happens in Court, that 72 hour no contact is in
effect to protect the victims in these cases. Judge Vlack requests that Susan develop a list
of items (based upon input from members), to work on in 2022. Tim Heckman would
very much like to continue the work on the Our Family Wizard; family issues after the
Court date. He wishes to develop further the two-page community resource sheet. He
and Haley have been working on this.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Shar Lopez, Behavioral Health, to Provide Support/Funding Resource Information for
2022
Shar indicates that she will be making an offer to an .FTE and much discussion ensued
about potential onsite work that could be fulfilled. A question arose about crisis
intervention or direct victim services. Shar indicates that she has actually five positions
that will be filled. She has not clarified the extent of these positions and their duties. She
will invite them to our February 16th meeting. At least one individual will be placed at
the Government Center and two will be placed with law enforcement - one, in New
Richmond and one, in Hudson. This is the current thinking for at least three.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Update from TurningPoint - Replacement of Legal Advocate
Haley Konsela states that TurningPoint has a new Legal Advocate to assist in her current
role as Legal Advocate. Haley is currently going to law school. Pam Bellrichard would like
to develop a system of direct work with victims and advocates - via Zoom or other
means - to connect the all with Tim and the Judiciary.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. Restorative Services Update
Bridget Warren presented an update of the new Intimate Partner class and also
presented data on current offenses of IPDV related to OWI and gun/weapons use, and
use of car in some form. The new class for Parenting was brought up and Jacob Otis will
start this group in the New Year.
