Domestic Violence & Family Issues Subcommittee of the Community Justice Collaborating Council Regular Meeting June 17, 2020 11:30 AM Minutes of June 17, 2020 was accepted as presented. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Domestic Violence Workgroup Update Haley Konsela, Ryan Shervey and Tim Heckmann gave updates on the workplan for St. Croix County. Ryan states they haven't make a lot of progress due to COVID-19 issues. Haley states they have an appointment to attend the parenting group to observe. She also reported on a couple of cases she is working on with and discussed mediation. Tim Heckmann states working with Zoom for court hearings has actually helped people be able to attend hearings and not miss work or other obligations. Judge Vlack and Ryan Shervey discussed Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) issues with some cases. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Presentation by Division of Community Corrections - Probation Review Process Mark Lemke, Supervisor, Division of Community Corrections discussed the form that was developed in an effort to share information between the Probation Office and Judge Vlack's Court. (DCC)Agent Craig Hooyman, DCC, discussed how P&P supervises offenders who commit domestic related offenses. He reviewed the form that is submitted to the court outlining any issues with the offender and progress in treatment. Agent Hooyman states the form came from another county, but it has been adopted for use in St. Croix County (SCC). He states he is responsible for submission of the form but will staff any substantial issues with Supervisor Lemke. Susan Capparelli asked about sharing information on high risk offenders and how communication can be improved. Further discussion was held on confidentiality issues and signed releases for offender information. Judge Vlack states Agent Hooyman outlines the good and bad on the form and it is very helpful to his Court. He also states the District Attorney's Office is involved in the process. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Review Potential Domestic Violence Training Opportunities Discussion was held on potential training opportunities for domestic violence and family issues.
