Domestic Violence & Family Issues Subcommittee of the Community Justice Collaborating Council Regular Meeting September 16, 2020 11:30 AM Minutes of September 16, 2020 were accepted by Judge Vlack. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Review Membership for CJCC DV/Family Issues Subcommittee Discussion was held on the current membership of the DV/Family Issues Subcommittee. Sarah Yacoub requested to become a voting member of this subcommittee. Judge Vlack states he would review the current membership and take her request under advisement. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Review 2021 Schedule for CJCC DV/Family Issues Subcommittee Judge Vlack asked the group about possible meeting times and Sarah Yacoub suggested meeting monthly. Judge Vlack said we probably should meet on January 13, 2021 if the room is available. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Review St. Croix County Work Plan for DV/Family Issues Tim Heckmann, gave an update to the subcommittee on the progress being made on the work plan for St. Croix County. Haley Konsela discussed victim issues and Ms. Yacoub asked about potential abuse to victims. Mr. Shervey and Mr. Heckmann responded to Ms. Yacoub's comments. Mr. Shervey discussed the possibility of a resource guide because there is a lack of information about available resources. He also discussed a working google doc that everyone on the subcommittee could use for input on available resources. Mr. Shervey discussed the Parents In Transition class and states they would like to incorporate DV slides into their curriculum. He states we should try to reach people at the beginning of the process. Mr. Heckmann states there may be a new DV parenting class at Restorative Services starting in February 2021. Haley Konsela states as a victim advocate she is in favor of a neutral document for people to use. Judge Vlack states we need a community wide response and get victims information as early as possible. Mr. Heckmann states we should get to work on this document and review what we have at the next meeting. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE ADJOURN Judge Vlack adjourned the meeting at 12:27 p.m. DATE OF NEXT MEETING Wednesday, January 13, 2021, 11:30 a.m., Courtroom #2 and via Zoom.
