Domestic Violence & Family Issues Subcommittee of the Community Justice Collaborating Council Regular Meeting February 27, 2019 11:30 AM Minutes of February 27, 2019 were accepted as presented. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Update on Domestic Violence Compliance Court Judge Vlack gave an update on the Domestic Violence Compliance Court. He said he has met with the local P&P Office and they have graciously assigned one agent to oversee these cases. These cases are similar to a probation review hearing and will take place on Fridays as Court schedules allow. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Law Enforcement Lethality Assessment Program Update Alena Taylor, Haley Konsela and Chief Mark Richert gave a presentation about the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) and how it is functioning so far. Discussion was held on the number of assessments to date and the services available to victims. Training to other departments within the County will be conducted in the near future. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Update on Law Enforcement Domestic Violence Packets Kevin Hamlin, Crime Data Analyst, reported on the number of DV related arrests in the past three years. Chief Mark Richert reported there is still some data conflicts between the statute classification of the DV related offense and the officers statement. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Future Goals and Objectives for Domestic Violence/Family Issues Subcommittee Judge Vlack indicated that we have reached our initial goal of starting a DV Compliance Court and now we should be looking for ways to support families and children. Selena Peterson suggested getting DV and family matter cases in front of the same judge would be very helpful.
