PUBLIC COMMENT
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Update on Domestic Violence Compliance Court
Judge Vlack gave an update on the Domestic Violence Compliance Court. He said he
has met with the local P&P Office and they have graciously assigned one agent to
oversee these cases. These cases are similar to a probation review hearing and will take
place on Fridays as Court schedules allow.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Law Enforcement Lethality Assessment Program Update
Alena Taylor, Haley Konsela and Chief Mark Richert gave a presentation about the
Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) and how it is functioning so far. Discussion was held
on the number of assessments to date and the services available to victims. Training to
other departments within the County will be conducted in the near future.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Update on Law Enforcement Domestic Violence Packets
Kevin Hamlin, Crime Data Analyst, reported on the number of DV related arrests in the
past three years. Chief Mark Richert reported there is still some data conflicts between
the statute classification of the DV related offense and the officers statement.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. Future Goals and Objectives for Domestic Violence/Family Issues Subcommittee
Judge Vlack indicated that we have reached our initial goal of starting a DV Compliance
Court and now we should be looking for ways to support families and children. Selena
Peterson suggested getting DV and family matter cases in front of the same judge would
be very helpful.
