APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Nutrition Advisory Council Regular Meeting December 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM meeting. There were The Council members reviewed the minutes from the December 6, 2017 none noted. Minutes were approved . RESULT: APPROVED PUBLIC COMMENT Dena Hudson asked what is going on with the cooking kitchens and keeping them open. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Home-Delivered and Congregate Meal 2017 YTD Statistics NAC members reviewed the 2017 YTD Statistics. Beckman pointed out that the report shows an increase in Congregate Dining while Home-Delivered has decreased. This trend is not typical across the state, but can be seen as a good thing for the Nutrition Program in general. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Home-Delivered Meal Program Statistics and Trends by Brandy Zeuli, Outreach Coordinator Outreach Coordinator Zeuli informed the NAC that there are currently 120 participants on the Home-Delivered Meal Program (HDM). There are currently many that are on hold for a variety of reasons. There has been an increase in the River Falls area. Zeuli explained that since the last meeting she started a nutrition education component that is required by state to the Home-delivered meal participants. The Secret Santa program took place Zeuli shared comments provided by the homebound participants. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Senior Nutrition Program Menu Suggestions and Recommendations nd The 2 quarter menus have been completed and will go for approval. Once they are approved they will go out to the Nutrition Sites. Brunner provided comments that she received from the participants at the New Richmond Senior Center. Other members shared comments from their sites. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Research and Evaluate Options for the Elderly Nutrition Program Brunner visited the Deerfield last month to research meals. Staff at the Deerfield wanted to know what the cost would be, logistics for transportation of meals, and other concerns. Brunner also visited St. Croix County Health Center. During that visit she was told, the Health Center would be ready and able to provide the meals. Other members shared their thoughts and feelings regarding options. Many of the members voiced their sites would like to stay as is, others mentioned some restaurants in their towns and the VFW The next meeting in May, the NAC will make a recommendation as to what they would like to see happen with the Elderly Nutrition Program to the Council on Aging and Disabilities. RESULT: DISCUSSED 5. Review of New Process for Ordering and Delivery of Milk for Elderly Nutrition Program At the end of 2017, the ADRC received a two week notice from the milk provider. Hanson was able to coordinate with the grocery stores in each of the towns to provide milk. RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. 2017 Pre-Audit Budget Report for Elderly Nutrition Program Beckman mentioned he forgot the report and asked that it be part of the next meeting. RESULT:TABLED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Recommendation to the Council on Aging and Disabilities regarding the Elderly Nutrition Program 2017 Home-delivered Meals Participant Survey Results nd Senior Nutrition Program Menu Suggestions and Recommendations for 2 quarter ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Nutrition Education programming has been set for the first quarter of 2018. The state requires Nutrition Education to be offered four times a year for both Congregate Nutrition and Home-Delivered Meals. Additional Nutrition Education opportunities are been researched at to fulfill the requirement. AARP Tax Assistance started in February and is going well. The Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be held on May 4, 2018. The location has yet to be determined.
