APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Nutrition Advisory Council Regular Meeting August 8, 2018 at 10:00 AM meeting. Chair The Council members reviewed the minutes from the August 8, 2018 Brunner asked if there were any changes, additions or corrections. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Council member Quale; seconded by Council member Croes; motion carried. RESULT: APPROVED PUBLIC COMMENT Chair Brunner opened the floor for public comment. There was no public comment given. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Staff Updates by Randi Hanson, Preventative/Nutrition Program Coordinator Hanson informed the Council they are still looking for substitutes for the Nutrition Program. Currently all the positions at the cooking kitchens are filled. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Home-Delivered Meal Program Statistics and Trends by Brandy Zeuli, Outreach Coordinator Outreach Coordinator Zeuli informed the NAC that there are currently 135 participants on the Home-Delivered Meal Program (HDM). There has been an increase in the Deer Park, River Falls and Somerset areas. Zeuli shared comments provided by the homebound participants regarding meals. Zeuli mentioned she is in need of volunteers to help deliver meals in New Richmond and River Falls. She has contacted ADRC of Pierce County for River Falls site since it is a shared site. She has also reached out to the hospital. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Senior Nutrition Program Menu Suggestions and Recommendations Brunner provided comments that she received from the participants at the New Richmond Senior Center. They would like see more cream pies like banana cream, coconut, and chocolate cream. The food has been tasting good over the past month. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. State Nutrition Program Assessment through Greater Wisconsin Agency on Area Resources, Inc (GWAAR) Beckman explained the State Nutrition Program Assessment process that will be completed by GWAAR. The Assessment will take place on Tuesday, October 9. This year the nutrition site visit will be New Richmond Senior Center. Once the Assessment Evaluation is complete, the report will be provided to the NAC and the Council on Aging and Disabilities. RESULT:DISCUSSED 4. Recommendation Regarding Options for Elderly Nutrition Program for 2019 Hanson explained that the Council would need to make a recommendation that will go forth to the Council on Aging and Disabilities. The Council members discussed the options of having one cooking kitchen, keeping the program as is, contracted service, or restaurant model. It was asked what the transportation cost would be in addition to the flat meal cost and what the raw food cost without operating cost would be. A motion was made to keep the Elderly Nutrition Program as is, with the two cooking kitchens and two catered sites, for 2019 with the ability to utilize a vendor if something were to happen at the cooking locations and additional research with cost of transportation, other pieces while evaluating the creation of a request for proposal by 2020 by Council member Mickschl, seconded by Council member Wegge, a voice vote was taken with six yeahs, one nah, and two absent. Motion carried. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Recommendation Regarding Options for Elderly Nutrition Program for 2019 ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Beckman provided the Council members with information regarding an opening on the Council on Aging and Disabilities for a Family Caregiver. Monster Mash Bingo Bash will be held at the Roberts Park Building on October 26 from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. Beckman informed the Council members that the Volunteer Medical Transportation Program transferred to the Center for Independent Living on June 1, 2018. ADJOURN Council Chair Brunner adjourned the meeting at 11:08 a.m. DATE OF NEXT MEETING The date of the next January 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the New Richmond Senior Center.
