Other present virtually was Bob Rohret, HHS Director; Teresa Babich, Public Health Nutrition Manager; Ruth Severson, Deer Park. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Nutrition Advisory Council Regular Meeting December 15, 2021 meeting. Chair The Council members reviewed the minutes from the December 15, 2021 Brunner asked if there were any changes, additions or corrections. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Council member Bishop; seconded by Council member Deja; motion carried. RESULT: APPROVED PUBLIC COMMENT Chair Brunner opened the floor for public comment. There was nopublic comment presented. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Senior Nutrition Site Updates Hanson informed the Council that the two cooking kitchens are seeing shortages through our food vendor, but they are working it out. The Glenwood City Senior Nutrition Site is up and running. They are enjoying their new space. The Hudson Senior Nutrition Site is doing well at the new location. The Senior Center Board is working on letting the public know they have moved and are open. The Roberts Senior Nutrition Site will have a sub for a while the Nutrition Program Manager is out. Hanson informed the Council she is in the planning stages with Dusty Anderson, owner of Parkside Restaurant in Hammond on transitioning the Roberts location to a restaurant model. The tentative transition will be sometime in June or July, but that may change due to paperwork and what needs to be in place with the state. The River Fall Senior Nutrition Site has transitioned to Chartwells to prepare and pack the Home-Delivered Meals. The Congregate Nutrition Program is not open at this time. Council member Deja mentioned activities will be starting at the River Falls Library. The Baldwin and Somerset Senior Nutrition Sites are doing well. Council member Bishop mentioned Baldwin Nutrition Program Manager are working on getting more participants. Hanson informed the Council she met with a representative from the New Richmond VFW and Council member Brunner regarding the projected Freedom Center that will be located at Hatfield Lake. Additional meetings will be held to discuss future plans. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Home-Delivered Meal Program Statistics and Trends by Brandy Zeuli, Outreach Coordinator Outreach Coordinator Zeuli informed the NAC that there are currently between 180 participants on the Home-Delivered Meal Program (HDM). The New Richmond and Somerset communities have seen the biggest growth. Zeuli mentioned she has resumed her home visits and volunteer orientation. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Elderly Nutrition Program Menu Suggestions and Recommendations Hanson reviewed the second quarter menus for 2022. A variety of comments were shared regarding the meals from the menu cycle. The bread will be changing to whole wheat bread per the state nutritional guidelines. Public Health Nutrition Manager Babich reviewed some of the changes and reasoning with the Council. Discussing followed. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Teresa Babich, Public Health Dietician, mentioned the Stepping Up Your Nutrition program that will be starting up in May and June. If anyone is interested in hosting a class, reach out to Teresa. It was asked when Nutrition Talks would start up again at the Senior Nutrition Sites. Babich mentioned she is hoping to resume the Nutrition Talks end of June or July. Amy Roemhild, ADRC Community Services Coordinator, reviewed the upcoming events hosted by the ADRC. Kristin Newton, ADRC Administrator, introduced herself to the committee. ADJOURN Council Chair Brunner adjourned the meeting at 11 a.m. DATE OF NEXT MEETING The date of the next meeting will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10 a.m. location to be determined.
