HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-19-2017 Citizen Review Panel Minutes Meeting Minutes St. Croix County Citizen Review Panel December 19, 2017 11:30 AM Family Resource Center, 857 Main Street Baldwin WI CALL TO ORDER Members present: Ben Tomandl, Bill Scholz, Sunshine, Sue Lindberg, Marla Butler, Paula Lugar, Jamie Turner. Excused: Mikayla Swanson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. November 21,2017 November meeting minutes were approved as written. PUBLIC COMMENT None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Brochure. The panel discussed what county specific data they want added to the brochure. Bill shared with panel the data he had so far. Sunshine also shared data. Bill will continue to get us more county data for the panel. The data we have so far for 2017: 784 referrals were made to CPS. 491 cases were screened out and 293 were screened in for CPS investigation of abuse or neglect. 248 cases were screened in for service assistance. 67 children are in out of home placement. Bill will get us data on the number of children involved in CPS cases this year. Bill and Ben shared with panel the CANS (child and adolescent needs assessment) data. 2. Work Plan for 2018: We will discuss our 2018 work plan at our Jan. meeting. 3. National Conference June 4-7: The national conference will be at Mackinac Island. Several panel members shared an interest in attending. 4. 2018 meetings Date and time set for our next meeting. REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENGA ITEMS Work plan for 2018 Approval of specific county data for our brochure (90% of ongoing CPS cases are due parent/caregiver substance use. #1 Meth. #2 Opioid per John Bretl) Appoint meeting leader and recorder for Feb. meeting/or change meeting date. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE: Sue shared information on a kNOw Meth conference in Eau Claire on Jan. 11th. She will be attending. Ben shared that Turning Point and Grace Place are full and had to turn people away. Sunshine shared that BACA is having their children’s Christmas party at the Hudson YMCA. Marla shared that Baldwin-Woodville High School, partnering with Western WI Health, will be offering a resiliency class next semester for students. Marla also shared the client criteria they have for working with women prenatally. She encouraged CPS staff to make referrals to them. Sunshine went to a conference in Stillwater on empowering survivors. Ben shared that one of the three guardians ad litem for our county is resigning. Sue shared with the panel Minimum Statutory Expectation for guardians ad litem Bill and Ben shared information on the difference between CHIPS (Children in need of protective placement) and JIPS (Juveniles in need of protective placement) and answered panel member questions. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: January 16th. 11:30 am at the Family Resource Center. Proposed closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85(1) (f) to consider and discuss the medical, social, and personal history of an abused and/or neglected minor child. Case review. Paula made a motion and seconded by Sunshine to go into closed session to review an egregious event. Reconvene into open session Panel may take action under discussion on in closed session and/or report action taken today in closed session, if any. No action needed by panel. ADJOURN THE MEETING At 1:00pm. A quorum of the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors (County Board) may be present at this meeting. Therefore, this notice also serves as notice of a meeting of the County Board for the purpose of obtaining information relating to subjects listed above for use at future County Board meetings.
