St. Croix County Citizen Review Panel

CALL TO ORDER: Sue Lindberg
ROLL CALL Emma Field, Jamie Turner, Jill Ross, Marla Butler, Phoenix, Sunshine, Nicole Fischer,
Ben Tomandl, Ben Scholz, Sandy Gordon, Sue Lindberg
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. November 21 2018 : Minutes were approved as read.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. New Members: change is social worker members: Nicole Fischer, CPS Intake Social Worker will be
joining the panel. She will be taking Bill’s place on the panel. Nicole started at SCC in 2016. Prior to
that she worked for DOC in Wisconsin. Welcome Nicole.
2. Work Plan for 2019; No changes made to work plan.
3. Community event for April child abuse prevention month: The Panel will be planning a Hands around
the Courthouse event in April for Child Abuse prevention month. Two dates were selected ,April 16th or
23rd. Sue will check with Pat Thompson if it is ok to have this at the Gov. Center. Three subcommittees
were formed; Outreach, media and flyers: Jamie and Marla. Date, place, speakers, display tables: Sue,
Jill and Ben. Food trucks: Emma and Phoenix. Order supplies and shirts: Sue
4. Facebook: for a subcommittee. Everyone is encouraged to look at our Facebook page. Send Phoenix
items to post and information.
5. Meeting dates and locations for 2019: Panel decided to rotate location of meeting every other month.
Next month we will meet in Baldwin at the Family Resource Center usual date and time.
6. National Meeting date and location. To be held in Albuquerque New Mexico. Phoenix is interested in
attending.
7. 2018, CPS data review at next meeting, Invite CPS supervisor. We will put this on hold until after our
event in April. Information and data will be shared at the event.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE:
Ben: Foster Care Summit for St. Croix, Polk and Pierce counties will be on Jan. 25th in New Richmond. It is to
honor and show appreciation to Foster Parents and families for the important work that they do.
Emma; Turning Point has two staff positions open and are recruiting to fill them.
Marla: The Family Resource Center is in the process of recruiting another Parent Educator. The Reaching for
the Stars Fundraiser will be April 12th at Camp St. Croix.
Phoenix and Sunshine; BACA is having a fund raiser a Chili cook off on March 2nd, noon to 4 at Uncle Mikes
in Hudson. The Holiday Party for their BACA kids and families’ is this Saturday at the Hudson YMCA.
Sandy: Headstart is starting to recruit children for next year. Parents can fill out an on-line application.
Sue: Shared the ACE screening tool and information on ACE’s. She also shared with panel members the WI
Child Abuse and Neglect report from 2017 and the 2019 Child Abuse and neglect prevention month tool kit.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING Feb. 19 2019 at the Family Resource Center in Baldwin. 11:30 am.
Proposed closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85(1) (f) to consider and discuss the medical, social, and
personal history of an abused and/or neglected minor child.
Case review. No case reviews were held.
Reconvene into open session Panel may take action under discussion on in closed session and/or report action
taken today in closed session, if any.
ADJOURN THE MEETING at 1:00 pm.
A quorum of the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors (County Board) may be present at this
meeting. Therefore, this notice also serves as notice of a meeting of the County Board for the purpose of
obtaining information relating to subjects listed above for use at future County Board meetings.
