Sue Lindberg ROLL CALL Emma, Sandy, Ashley, Sunshine, Aubrey, Nicole, Ben, Sue and Guest Matt Zabel: CPS Supervisor. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. March 19, 2019 meeting minutes were approve. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Discussion on Hands Around the Courthouse event: Panel members thought the event went well. The speakers were very good. The food trucks were a success. There was a good turnout. Over a 100 people were at the event. There was good media coverage before and after the event to get the word out on child abuse and neglect and prevention efforts. 2. Matt Zabel CPS Supervisor Update: Matt explained to panel members how the state investigates and follows up on all state egregious events and childhood deaths due to abuse and neglect. The state looks at CPS practices for that county or city and will mandate a system change review if needed. It falls under 2009 Act 78. Sue also shared with panel members 2018 CPS county data from the annual report. It is data from 2013 through 2018. th. 3. State Coordinator phone call April 17 Sue gave the panel members an update what other CRPs in WI are doing. All held special events for child abuse awareness month in April. CRP membership turnover is an issue with several panels. Very few do case reviews. The new state coordinator Alicia Breininger would like to come to one of our meetings when we do case reviews. She will get back to us th this summer on our annual report. State meeting is set for Oct. 11. Every panel is sending someone to the National Conference. 4. Budget Update. $3,016.00. Discussion on purchases. Panel discussed options on how to spend the remaining funds. Sandy from Early Headstart would like to get a Shaken Baby Syndrome doll for educating parents. Panel approved this. Foster Parent Coordinator Ben suggested assistance for a Foster Parent outreach and recruitment event. Panel members approved to support this outreach and recruitment event. Emma brought information about YMCA Camp St. Croix for children that are in foster care might be able to go for free if we could assist with registration fees. Sunshine would like the panel to help pay for camp registration for BACA children. Panel members agreed to pay for registration fees (which is approximately $25.00 per child), for foster children, BACA children and Turning Point Children to attend YMCA day camp for a week. Sue will check with the state coordinator if this is allowable expenses for CRP funds. Ben, Nicole and Aubrey will find out more about the camperships qualifications and will pass this information on to the Foster Parents. 5. National CRP Conference is June 6-8 at Albuquerque New Mexico. Emma, Phoenix and Sunshine will attend. They are registered and all set to go. th 6. State Meeting: Oct. 11 Stevens Point WI. REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENGA ITEMS: Update from National Conference. Case reviews from a CPS social worker. Nicole will arrange this. Update on foster parent association outreach event. Campership registration fees for foster children. Discussion on planning a fall event. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Emma is now trained as Stewards of Children through the Darkness to Light program. They will start their work at daycare centers. Sandy is retiring from Headstart in Dec. Foster children can be enrolled in early head start. She encouraged social workers to make referrals. They work with both the birth parents and the foster parents together. Ben shared that our county has 26 foster care homes, 6 respite care homes and an emergency services home. A foster care family in our county won a state award. They have been foster parents for over 600 children. Paula Lugar unfortunately had to resign from the panel due to time constraints. th DATE OF NEXT MEETING: June 18 at Turningpoint house in New Richmond. We will not meet in July. Proposed closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. 19.85(1) (f) to consider and discuss the medical, social, and personal history of an abused and/or neglected minor child. Case review. None at this meeting. Reconvene into open session Panel may take action under discussion on in closed session and/or report action taken today in closed session, if any. ADJOURN THE MEETING 1:00 pm. A quorum of the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors (County Board) may be present at this meeting. Therefore, this notice also serves as notice of a meeting of the County Board for the purpose of obtaining information relating to subjects listed above for use at future County Board meetings.
