2 APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO THE COALITION FOR THE ST. CROIX RIVER

9 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors (County Board)
10 indicated support for the St. Croix River Crossing Project bridge in 1984 with
11 Resolution No. 21(84), in 1997 with Resolution No. 2(97) and in 2011 with
12 Resolution No. 1(2011); and
13
14 WHEREAS, the Coalition for the St. Croix River Crossing (Coalition) is a
15 "501(c)(6)" nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of
16 Minnesota whose mission is to:

18 ® Educate citizens about the benefits of building a new St. Croix River
19 Crossing
20 ® Organize community support for the project in both Minnesota and
21 Wisconsin
22 ® Communicate support for a new St. Croix River Crossing to the federal and
23 state representatives; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the Coalition is comprised of business, labor, government and
26 community leaders from Minnesota and Wisconsin who support building a four-lane
27 bridge that will benefit the entire region; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Administration Committee tools action on December 20, 2010
30 to contribute $500 to the Coalition with a transfer from the Contingency Fund to the
31 Administrative Coordinator's budget; and
32
33 WHEREAS, Washington County made a donation of $10,000 to the Coalition
34 in 2011; and
35
36 WHEREAS, the Administration Committee took action on September 19, 2011
37 to contribute $9500 to the Coalition with a transfer from the Contingency Fund to the
38 County Administrator's budget; and

RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2011 COUNTY BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO THE COALITION FOR THE ST.
CROIX RIVER CROSSING - Continued
40 WI-MREAS, the $9500 contribution is not a budgeted item in the 2011 County
41 budget, thus the County Board must approve the appropriation through a budget
42 amendment.

44 THEREFORE, be it resolved that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
45 approves an appropriation of $9500 to the Coalition for the St. Croix River Crossing,
46 which will be transferred from the Contingency Fund to the County Administrator's
47 budget for payment prior to the end of 2011.
