RESOLUTION SUPPORTING 2025 WISCONSIN DNR
RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION FOR
ORF FAMILY OVERLOOK TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS
1 WHEREAS, St. Croix County's Outdoor Recreation Plan, adopted by the St. Croix
2 County Board of Supervisors on February 1, 2022, by Resolution No. 6, identifies the need to
3 develop County land to provide low -impact, nature -based facilities, parks, and natural areas to
4 fulfill recreational needs with access to all residents and visitors; and

6 WHEREAS, the Outdoor Recreation Plan identifies trail improvements and maintenance
7 in the hiking action plan; and
9 WHEREAS, St. Croix County is projected to continue to be one of the fastest growing
10 counties in Wisconsin and the development of park facilities is needed to serve a growing
11 population; and

13 WHEREAS, the proposed trail improvement project will increase accessibility and
14 safety in the park; and
15
16 WHEREAS, the Community Development Department seeks authorization to apply to
17 the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for financial assistance under the Recreational
18 Trail Program Grant; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the grant program funds park development projects up to 80% of eligible
21 project costs.

23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of
24 Supervisors authorizes the Community Development Director to submit a Recreational Trails
25 Program Grant application to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for Orf Family
26 Overlook Trail improvements including resurfacing.

28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Community Development Department shall
29 comply with all Recreational Trails Program laws and regulations and will meet its obligations
30 under the terms of the grant.
