Others present were Kristin Newton, ADRC Administrator; Bob Rohret, HHS Director; Fay
Strenke, HHS Fiscal Manager. Others present virtually were Elle Klasen, Public Health
Epidemiolgist and Karla Opatz, Division of Workforce Development.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1.Council on Aging and Disabilities Regular Meeting December 9, 20228:30 AM
Chair Ostness asked if there were any corrections, additions, or deletions to the minutes.
Chair Ostness approved the minutes as written.
RESULT: ACCEPTED
PUBLIC COMMENT
Council Chair Ostness opened the floor for public comment. Hearing none, he proceeded with
the meeting.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Aging and Disability Resource Center Financial Reports
Fay Stenke, HHS Fiscal Manager, reviewed the December Financial report. She explained
that there will be some expenses and revenues arriving in January will be posted back to
2022. Discussion followed.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
2. Presentation by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
Karla Opatz, Division of Workforce Development Supervisor for Western Wisconsin
office, provided the Council with a power point presentation regarding Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). She reviewed mission, referral process, eligibility
process and services through DVR. Discussion followed.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
3. Communicable Disease Update
Elle Klasen, Public Health Epidemiologist, provided the Council with an update on the
Communicable Disease within Wisconsin and St. Croix County. Provided a power point
presentation reviewing Influenza-like illness, RSV, and COVID-19 statistics. Discussion
followed.

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE
Bob Rohret, HHS Director, informed that he is reviewing the possibility of utilizing some of the
ARPA dollars to assist in funding Limitless Cycling and the purchase of a new adaptable bicycle.
The HHS Board meeting for last month was cancelled and most of the agenda items will carry
over to the January meeting. Rohret announced that Sharlene Lopez will now be the new
Deputy HHS Director.
Rohret will review and clarify the remote attendance board/committee meetings policy.
Kristin Newton informed the Council that Secret Santa 110 people. AARP Tax Assistance
phone line went live on Monday, January 9 and appointments will start in February and be
offered in three locations. The transition in Hudson to a restaurant model is going well and
Woodville Senior Nutrition Site transitioned to a different caterer the first of the year, so
more to come as to how that is working.
Newton announced that Advocacy Day will be May 9 in Madison. Anyone can attend and
Council members have attended in the past.
Newton mentioned that some of the Council member terms are up for re-appointment this
year. More information to follow.

Chair Ostness adjourned the meeting at 9:48 am.

The next meeting will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the St. Croix County Services Center
in New Richmond.
