APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1.Council on Aging and Disabilities Regular Meeting January 13, 20238:30 AM Chair Ostness asked if there were any corrections, additions, or deletions to the minutes. Chair Ostness approved the minutes as written. RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT Chair Ostness opened the floor for public comment. Hearing none, he proceeded with the meeting. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Aging and Disability Resource Center Financial Reports Fay Strenke, HHS Fiscal Manager, reviewed the February 2023 Financial report. She explained that there are currently no 2023 Intergovernmental Revenue and may not until April report due to still receiving 2022 revenue. Strenke explained the 2022 deficit was due to Adult Protection/Elder Abuse staff moving to the ADRC. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Aging and Disability Resource Center Dementia Care Specialist Program Presentation Kim Bauer, ADRC Dementia Care Specialist, provided the Council with a power point presentation regarding Dementia and plan goals for the Dementia Care Specialist program. Discussion followed. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Communicable Disease Update Elle Klasen, Public Health Epidemiologist, provided the Council with an update on the Communicable Disease within Wisconsin and St. Croix County. She provided a power regarding the current viruses peaking or leveling out in St. Croix County. Currently the state of Wisconsin is overall low and St. Croix County is low. Public Health is still following up with those folks who test positive for COVID-19 that are in the in the high risk target groups to ensure they have all the resources and assistance they need. Klasen shared information on how to receive free home COVID test kits. Discussion followed. RESULT: DISCUSSED REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Chair Ostness asked if there were any suggestions for future agenda items. Hearing none, he proceeded with the meeting. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Newton informed the Council that Aging Advocacy Day will be held on May 9 in Madison and will share the link with Council members for those who wish to attend. She informed the Council that the Deer Park cooking kitchen will transition to a caterer - Ready Randy's - effective April 3. The new caterer will provide food for Somerset, Deer Park and New Richmond. The Deer Park location is not changing and will still be offering onsite dining and home-delivered meals. Newton announced Tara Fick was hired as the new Elder Benefit Specialist starting March 20. Tara was part of the Adult Protection team and Behavioral Health and will be a welcome addition to the ADRC Team. Bob Rohret mentioned that he will be providing a Directors report at the Health and Human Services Board on Wednesday, March 15 in Hudson. If individuals would like a copy, they can view it on the HHS Board packet online. Rohret updated the Council on a Foster Care event that was held at the New Richmond High School on Thursday, March 9. Unfortunately, the weather played a role in the number of attendees, but overall the event went well. Rohret announced that is budget time again and he will be watching what happens at the state level with funding. Budget will hopefully be approved in June 2023. Rohret informed the Council that with the ending of the public health emergency, some individuals on public benefits may loose benefits. He mentioned possibly utilizing some of the ARPA funds through HHS to assist entities that may start to see in uptake in usage due to the change. Chair Ostness announced that he will be in Washington DC in April with the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources for an advocacy event. ADJOURN Chair Ostness adjourned the meeting at 9:56 am DATE OF NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the St. Croix County Services Center in New Richmond.
