Next Meeting Date: Wednesday, April 4, 2001 9:00 A.M..
Rules and By -Laws: Nothing for discussion.
Statewide Legislative Issues: Governor McCallum has suggested that the monies from
the tobacco settlement could be used to help balance the State budget. Sen. George and
others think it should be returned to the counties for tobacco related health care. Supr.
Standafer will be in Madison next week and will try and find out some information as to
what is really happening with the monies.
Chair Bieraugel will check with County Board Chair Dorsey as to whether we should
respond to the letter we received regarding the casino issue. St. Croix County criticized
WCA and not Lafayette County.
Redistricting: Planner, Ellen Denzer has not received any firm numbers from the
census. District lines will be drawn as soon as these figures are available.
Chair Bieraugel stated Chair Dorsey needs a resolution to appoint an Ad Hoc Steering
Committee to oversee the redistricting plan. Supr. Luckey suggested using the same
resolution that was used the last time. Whiting will talk to Denzer and report back to us.
Committee Restructure: Chair Bieraugel requested Administrative Coordinator
Whiting to bring both the model structures he previously drew up back to the committee
for further discussion.
The Emergency Management/Communication Committee voted to keep the Dispatch
Department as it is. It will not be placed under the Sheriff Department.
. V
Information Services Sub - committee Structure: The committee discussed whether it
should stand alone or remain as a sub - committee. Also, if it should stay under the
Finance Committee or be transferred to the Administration Committee. It will be referred
back to the Finance Committee for their recommendation.
Meeting adjourned at 9:55 A.M.
