CROIX COUNTY FINANCE COMMITTEE Meeting of August 30, 2001 The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Ralph Swenson at 1:20 PM. Roll call was taken with Swenson, Nancy Bieraugel, Stan Krueger and Tom Dorsey in attendance. Tom O'Connell arrived at 1:45 PM. Also in attendance for all or part of the meeting were Administrative Coordinator Chuck Whiting, Einar Horne and Finance Director Rich Loney with Loney serving as the recording secretary. A motion was made by Krueger, seconded by Bieraugel, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried. It was noted that the next meeting is scheduled for 8:30 AM on Friday, September 7, 2001. There was no unfinished business. The purpose of the meeting was to give the Committee a general, preliminary review of the 2002 budget requests. Whiting said he had received the budget model as developed by Springsted and that he would present a review of it today as it stands. Loney reviewed the very preliminary levy forecast for 2002 which indicates a levy increase of some over 19% would be required to fund operations. Numerous items were discussed, in particular the County Parks request, with focus on Perch Lake. Carry-over money was discussed and it was noted that these would be further reviewed at the full budget review in September. The Nursing Home budget request was reviewed. The audited cash overdraft as of 12/31/00 was noted, as were other areas of the operation, including the Keefe Study that is ongoing and current year operations. Numerous other areas of the budget were reviewed and discussed. A motion was made by Swenson, seconded by O'Connell, to adjourn at 4:35 PM. Motion carried. Stan Krueger Secretary
