GUESTS PRESENT: Representatives from Market & Johnson, Samuels Group and Weis Builders. PUBLIC COMMENTS None BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Interview Construction Manager Candidates Chair Peterson began the discussion by saying that the preferred method for the interviews, and to keep consistency, is that one person ask questions of the candidates. Chair Peterson asked Leibfried if she would ask the interview questions. Ziliak gave a brief overview of the interview process explaining the format and questions that were formulated based on staff and committee suggestions. The Firms will give a presentation, they will cover the pre-interview questions they received prior to the interview and then they will answer the scripted questions. Scoring sheets will be used by the committee, and Ziliak explained what is important to score on. The committee took some time to discuss the questions and receive clarification. Market & Johnson representatives Vice President Jason Plante, Vice President Kevin Renley, Project Manager Kris Hahn and Lead Estimator Dean Griffith presented and were interviewed. The committee took a recess at 10:50 a.m., and reconvened at 11:00 a.m. Samuels Group representatives President Sid Samuels, Senior Project Manager Tim Nordlund and Superintendent Al Daul gave their presentation and were interviewed. The committee recessed at 12:08 p.m., and reconvened at 12:13 p.m. The committee recessed for lunch at 12:23 p.m., and reconvened at 1:04 p.m. Weis representatives Group Vice President Chris Krieg, Senior Project Manager, Jason Law, Senior Estimator Tim Reiner and Business Development Vice President Rick Fenske presented and were interviewed. The committee recessed at 2:25 p.m., and reconvened at 2:30 p.m. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Construction Manager Selection The committee and staff discussed the three Firms that had interviewed. Samuels Group was eliminated by the majority of the committee who had ranked them the lowest. The decision was narrowed down to Weis Builders and Market & Johnson. Discussion took place regarding Market & Johnson and their desire to do self-performing work. The committee concluded that if considered, Market & Johnson would not be allowed to self-perform. Motion by Ring, 2nd by Van Mele to select Market & Johnson as the Construction Manager. A vote was taken, 5 yes, 3 no. Motion carried.
