JURSIDICTIONAL OFFER FOR COUNTY REAL ESTATE

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the state of Wisconsin is rebuilding State Trunk Highway (STH) 64 between Houlton and
New Richmond; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County owns real estate (located in the southeast corner of the "County Farm
property") which is being condemned by the State for a portion of STH 64; and
WHEREAS, negotiations between the State and the County regarding the value of the real estate taken
and other damages (the condemnation) did not result in an agreement; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 32, Wisconsin Statutes, the State submitted a jurisdictional offer to the
County, dated January 8, 2004, for what the State determined is the value of the condemnation; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does not believe the State's offer is adequate
compensation for the condemnation.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors: that the jurisdictional offer
of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to St. Croix County, dated January 8, 2004, is hereby
rejected; that the Finance Committee proceed with legal counsel under Chapter 32 and bring a final
recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for consideration; and that the Finance Committee attempt
to continue negotiations with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to reach agreement and, if
successful, present that agreement to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.
