ST. CROIX COUNTY, WISCONSIN
WHEREAS, Section 814.70 Wisconsin Statutes, sets forth fees the sheriff shall collect for service of
process, execution on judgment and travel for civil process; and
WHEREAS, presently the fee for service of process is $12 for each service or attempted service; if
more than one defendant or person is to be served at the same address, $6 for each additional
defendant or person; the fee for serving an execution on a judgment is $12; and, the fee for travel for
civil process is $0.25 for each mile actually and necessarily traveled; and
WHEREAS, Wis. Stats. 814.705 allows a county board to establish a higher fee than set forth above
which St. Croix County did in 1993: Service of process fee of $24 for first attempt and $8 for each
subsequent attempt; $12 for each additional defendant or person; the fee for execution on a judgment
is the actual cost to the County for service; the fee for travel for civil process service is the Internal
Revenue Service mileage rate in effect at the time for each mile actually and necessarily traveled.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that the following
schedule be and is hereby - established regarding civil process fees:
1. The service of process fee shall be $30, with $10 for each additional attempt at service, limited to
three service attempts. If more than one defendant or person is served at the same address, the fee
shall be $15 for each additional defendant or person.
2. The fee for serving an execution on a judgment shall be $50 per officer per hour.
3. The fee for posting and conducting a foreclosure sale shall be $75 each.
4. The fee for travel for civil process shall be the Internal Revenue Service's mileage rate in effect at
the time for each mile actually and necessarily traveled.
5. The fee for conducting postal address verification shall be $5.00 per request and the fee for making
additional copies shall be $1.00 per page.
FURTHER, be it resolved that the new civil process fee schedule will take effect with those
documents served after January 15, 2003.
