Resolution Opposing State Legislation Seeking to Bypass Local Authority on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations in Wisconsin RESOLUTION NO. 33 «O03) St. Croix County, Wisconsin WHEREAS, St. Croix County deems that agriculture and agricultural economics are integral to the welfare of St. Croix County and the State of Wisconsin; and WHEREAS, St Croix County encourages the promotion and protection of agriculture and agricultural land uses through established goals in the St. Croix County Comprehensive Development and Land and Water Resource Management Plans; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County has the authority under State Statute 59.69 to create local zoning ordinances to promote the health, welfare and safety of county residents; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County has enacted, administered and enforced local land use ordinances that ensure a high quality of life for all county residents; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County believes that a strong agricultural economy can be maintained in the state without stripping counties and communities of local control. Included with this resolution is a newspaper article from Door County that summarizes this proposed legislation. Since the end of April there has been little discussion on this proposed legislation. That is a direct result of our state representatives involvement in the State budget deliberations, however, I expect this to be resurfacing again now that budget process is near completion. Please give me a call should you have any questions regarding this resolution or the proposed legislation.
