SUBMITTED BY: Debra Kathan, Personnel Director DATE: August 27, 2001 COPIES TO: County Board Office, County Clerk, News Media, Notice Board, Committee Members PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING Date: August 29, 2001 Location: Government Center, Hudson The Personnel Committee meeting was called to order at 8:32 a.m. by Chairman Gerald Peterson. Members present: Peterson, Mary Louise Olson, Ralph Swenson, Art Jacobson, and Julie Speer. Also present: Debra Kathan. Moved (Olson, Jacobson) and approved to adopt the agenda as presented. Moved (Speer, Swenson) and approved to defer action on the August 22 minutes until the next meeting. The Committee chose to review requests for temporary help positions to be included in the 2002 budget. Moved (Speer, Swenson) and approved to accept the position of Parks Secretary /Clerk at Glen Hills for inclusion in the 2002 budget. The position is budgeted for 1,080 hours. Moved (Jacobson, Speer) and approved to accept the position of Real Property Lister Assistant for inclusion in the 2002 budget. The position is budgeted for 1,044 hours. Moved (Speer, Swenson) and approved to accept the position of Law Enforcement Clerk for inclusion in the 2002 budget. The position is budgeted for 1,044 hours. Moved (Speer, Olson) and approved to accept the temporary help position filled by D. Halberg as a reserve officer for a 2002 rate of pay that is $3.00 per hour higher than the part -time reserve officers. It was noted that this was a non - precedential action. Moved (Jacobson, Speer) and approved to accept the seasonal park positions for inclusion in the 2002 budget. These positions are as follows: 2 Park Technicians (6- months) for Homestead Parklands; Troy Park Supervisor (760 hours); 12 Park Technicians (3- months) at Glen Hills (7), Troy Beach (3), and Homestead (2); 2 general temporary help workers (250 hours each) for Glen Hills to help at beginning and end of summer season. Discussion regarding the Field Inspector positions with Zoning and Land and Water Conservation departments. Moved (Swenson, Jacobson) and approved to accept the two Field Inspector positions at 300 hours each for the Zoning and Land and Water Conservation departments. Moved (Swenson, Jacobson) and approved to accept the following positions to be included in the 2002 budget: Information and Referral Clerk, Office on Aging, at 520 hours UWRF Work Study Student, L/W Conservation, at 200 hours Summer Intern, L/W Conservation, at 500 hours Up to 17 auxiliary deputies for the Sheriff's Department at an estimated expenditure of $67,345 Office Aide, Register of Deeds, at 210 hours Secretary, Planning and Recycling, at 224 hours 4 -H Summer Assistant, Extension Office, at 450 hours ■ The next meeting was scheduled for September 19 at 1 p.m. The October 17 meeting was set for 8:30 a.m. Discussion regarding temporary help for the Personnel Office. Moved (Speer, Olson) and approved to authorize 1,044 hours of temporary help time in the Personnel budget for 2002. Swenson voted no. Discussion at the next meeting will include Personnel Handbook issues. Discussion regarding the proposal from the Administration Office regarding a job description study of current personnel classifications.
