SUBMITTED BY: Debra Kathan Personnel Director DATE: January 17, 2001 COPIES TO: County Board Office, County Clerk, News Media, Notice Board, Committee Members X w • ' r PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING Date: January 23, 2001 Location: Government Center The Personnel Committee meeting was called to order at 8:34 a.m. by Vice Chairman Julie Speer. Members present: Speer, Mary Louise Olson, Ralph Swenson, and Art Jacobson. Excused absence: Gerald Peterson who was attending another committee meeting. Also present: John Borup, Ron Kiesler, and Debra Kathan. Moved (Jacobson, Olson) and approved to adopt the agenda as presented. It was noted that the next Committee meeting would be on February 27. Discussion regarding a request from the Health and Human Services Board to fund a temporary full -time position in the Community Support Program area. The CSP- Social Worker would be a full -time position designed to provide services to mentally ill clients, some of whom seek treatment voluntarily and others who are under a court-order for treatment. Speer and Swenson indicated concern that the request was coming so soon after 2001 budgets had been finalized. Swenson requested budget monitoring information from the MH /AODA unit for year 2000. Kiesler noted that the waiting list of 14 was unusual, but may be indicating a trend toward higher usage of the service. There would be no financial impact to adding this position as these services are reimbursable. Moved (Jacobson, Speer) and approved to authorize the temporary, full -time position of CSP Social Worker. Swenson cast a dissenting vote. The temporary nature of the position does not permit the benefit package to be extended to the employee. Moved (Jacobson, Swenson) and approved to adjourn at 8:55 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Mary Louise Olson Secretary
