St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, requests for new positions have been reviewed by the Personnel Committee and the
Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, the committees recommend approval of the following new positions effective January
1, 2003:
1) Zoning Technician, Zoning Department
New, full -time position —It is anticipated that revenues generated by this position will offset cost
of position
Cost: $53,997
2) Transportation Driver, St. Croix Industries, Health and Human Services
New part-time position, 4 -1/2 hours per day —It is anticipated that all but 10% of the cost of the
position will be funded by other than levy dollars
Cost: $14,216 (assuming no health insurance); county cost of $1,422
3) Environmental Health Specialist, Health and Human Services
Increase in hours from 60% to 100 % - -It is anticipated that revenues from the Indoor Air and
Childhood Lead Poisoning Grants will fund the additional 40% of the position
Cost: $25,351 (including health insurance)
4) Primary Services Deputy, Sheriff's Department
Three new, full -time positions —A request would be made for funding under a Federal
Cops Grant with a three -year federal/local participation
Cost: First year with a federal grant of $98,000
Additional Costs for vehicle, uniform, etc
First year County cost: $185,947
(Committee recommendation is not contingent upon grant approval)
First year County cost without grant: $283,947
5) Corrections Officer II (Huber/Monitoring Officer), Sheriff's Department
New, full -time position (if Huber addition is approved)
Cost: $62,575 (County levy) – this is an annualized cost, it would be decreased proportionately
for each month the position goes unfilled
6) Corrections Officer II, Program and Volunteer Coordinator, Sheriff's Department
Increase position from part-time (3/4) to full -time
Cost: $15,197 (County levy)

7) Telecommunicator (Lead Technical), Emergency Communications
One full -time position -
Cost: $52,904 (County levy) ._
8) Telecommunicator, Emergency Communications
Four 70% positions increased to 100% positions
Cost: $65,321 (County levy)
9) Clerk/Secretary, Planning/Real Property
Half -time Temporary to Three- quarters -time Permanent status
Cost: $34,138 (current temporary cost is $13,107) difference = $21,031
(County levy)
10) Employee Services Specialist, Personnel
New part-time position, 25 hours per week
Cost: $31,580 (County levy)
11) Legal Advocate, V/W Program, D. A.'s Office
Regular part-time position to regular full -time position
Cost: VOCA grant covers a portion of the cost; County levy responsibility is $16,766.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that the positions listed
above are approved as indicated.
