VACANCIES ON ELECTED COMMITTEES

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors Rules and Bylaws provides for 4 committees
whose members are elected by the Board; and
WHEREAS, the Rules and Bylaws allow a supervisor to be a member of only one elected
committee; and
WHEREAS, this membership limitation has in the past been interpreted as requiring a
member of an elected committee to resign from that committee before being eligible to fill a
vacancy on another elected committee; and
WHEREAS, the Administration Committee recommends changing the eligibility
interpretation by amending Article IV, Section A.1., by adding to the last sentence:
If a vacancy occurs on an elected committee after the Board of Supervisors
organizational meeting, any supervisor is eligible to be elected to fill the
vacancy. If the supervisor elected is already a member of an elected committee,
the supervisor is deemed to have resigned from that elected committee.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that the
Board of Supervisors Rules and Bylaws are amended as set out above.*
