GRANT APPLICATION AND SUBSEQUENT APPROPRIATION OF
COUNTY FUNDS FOR A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM
RESOLUTION NO. 0 a G 1)
St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the County's Clean Sweep Programs are intended to offer education and assistance to
citizens in the identification, proper handling and disposal of household hazardous waste through
distribution of public information materials, presentations to citizen groups and a designated day for the
collection and disposal of household hazardous wastes; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County successfully organized and conducted 13 Clean Sweep Programs.
The first was with Pierce County, City of Hudson and Village of North Hudson in 1989. The second was
with the City of New Richmond and the Village of Hammond in 1991. The County held its own programs
in 1994, 1996, 1997, and two programs in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. A program was conducted jointly
with Polk County in 1995; and
WHEREAS, in this and previous action the County Board has declared its intent to conduct annual
Clean Sweep Programs, subject to positive public response and the appropriation of funding; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County will allow employees from the Department of Natural Resources
access to inspect the Clean Sweep Program site; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County will maintain records documenting all expenditures made during the
Clean Sweep Program; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County will submit a final report to the Department describing all Clean
Sweep Program activities, achievements and problems, comparing the actual program with the activities
and objectives proposed in our application and include samples of our information- education brochures,
data on participation rates, waste quantities collected, documentation of the project costs, and a section on
recommendations.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors authorizes the
Planning Director to submit a state grant application for the Household Hazardous Waste Grant Program
with the intent of administering a Clean Sweep Program in St. Croix County in 2002.
