HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions 2000 (07) RESOLUTION TO REQUEST GRANT FUNDS TO CONTINUE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAND MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HOMESTEAD PARKLANDS ON PERCH LAKE Resolution No. 7 6 °(-‘' St. Croix County, Wisconsin WHEREAS, public parks promote the public health, comfort, convenience and welfare; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County continues to provide outdoor recreational opportunities to promote the well -being of individuals and families, improve the attractiveness of the county and contribute to the social and economic health of the county and its communities; and WHEREAS, Perch Lake is an important resource used by the public for recreation and enjoyment of natural beauty; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County acquired Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake with the intent of protecting the exceptionally clean, clear water, abundant fishery, sensitive landscape and providing recreational opportunities to County residents; and WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan identifies the need to develop the new County Park, Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake; and WHEREAS, the Planning, Zoning and Parks Committee, working with County staff, professional consultants, private citizens and organizations, has prepared a Land Management Plan for Homestead Parklands; and WHEREAS, the protection of the Perch Lake watershed area and reasonable restrictions on the use of the lake are critical to the protection of water quality and the natural ecosystem of the lake; and WHEREAS, financial aid is required to develop Homestead Parklands for public recreation; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County is qualified to carry out the responsibilities of this project; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County desires to apply to the Department of Natural Resources for matching grants under the Lakes Management Protection Grant Program, St. Croix Lakes Cluster Priority Lakes Project, Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Local and Urban Park Aids and the Stewardship program; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County has budgeted a sum sufficient to complete the project.
