RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF
THE MINNESOTA- WISCONSIN BOUNDARY AREA COMMISSION
Resolution No.
St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the Minnesota - Wisconsin Boundary Area
Commission ( MWBAC) was established by a bi -state compact in
1965 as the only state - sponsored organization dedicated to
interstate management and stewardship of the St. Croix and
Mississippi Rivers; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix River is a National Wild and
Scenic River that forms the western boundary of St. Croix
County; and
WHEREAS, the MWBAC brings together citizens and
government officials of the two neighboring states to solve
shared issues such as land use, recreation, water quality,
bluffland management, wildlife habitat, riverway law
enforcement and general stewardship of the St. Croix River;
and
WHEREAS, the MWBAC provides information from state and
federal agencies to the public and local officials and
returns input from the public and local officials to those
state and federal agencies.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix
County Board of Supervisors hereby supports the
continuation of the Minnesota - Wisconsin Boundary Area
Commission and continued sponsorship from the State of
Wisconsin; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors hereby recognizes the importance of this
cooperative, bi -state Commission and the valuable
assistance it provides on many issues related to the St.
Croix River; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution
be distributed by the County Clerk to Governor Tommy
Thompson, members of the Legislature's Joint Committee on
Finance, and all State legislators representing St. Croix
County.
