SNOW PLOW SAFETY LEGISLATION
RESOLUTION NO. o_9 @,
WHEREAS, the various county highway departments around the state have worked for several years through the Wisconsin
County Highway Association (WCHA) and the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) to get legislation implemented to help
minimize traffic accidents with our snowplows; and
WHEREAS, said legislation will enhance safety for the motoring public, minimize accident caused delays in snow removal
operations and decrease liability for highway maintenance agencies; and
WHEREAS, said legislation was introduced in the last biennial legislative session but was not acted upon; and
WHEREAS, a copy of 1997 Assembly Bill 78 is attached hereto for reference; and
WHEREAS, it is important to highway maintenance agencies for safety and liability reasons to have this legislation enacted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors goes on record in support of
snowplow safety legislation similar to 1997 Assembly Bill 78.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board encourages area legislators to support both the introduction and adoption of
similar legislation in the 1999 legislative session; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk submit copies of this resolution to all members of the Assembly and
Senate who represent portions of St. Croix County in the state legislature as well as to the office of the governor.
